RSS
RSS is a service of particular websites, blogs and of course shaded ARTS to keep you informed about the latest news. Via RSS you get a list view of new blog entries. Each with headline, a short teaser text and a link to the original article. The list you are getting via RSS is called "RSS feed".
RSS feeds can be viewed with any modern webbrowser. Usually one subscribes to a RSS feed with a feed reader. That means the feed reader collects all information from all subscribed feeds and gives you a compact overview about what has happenend lately on the particular websites or blogs.

Twitter is a free social networking and micro-blogging service. Users can create text messages with max. 140 characters. Such a micro-blog is used to share actual news, thoughts or events.
Writing a text message on Twitter is called "tweeting". A messages is called "tweet" or "status update". Repeating the tweet of another user to spread it is called "retweet".
The aspect of social networking comes with "following a tweet", which means subcribing to it. Additionally a tweet can be commented; so Twitter can also be used to communicate.
